Personal experience by Chang Guan, now at Roosevelt University in Chicago (her first choice) I began to learn dialogue skills from ECCN in 2009. In my one-year of learning and two years of working as an intern in this organization, my life totally changed. I was a typical college student, learning about something that I was not interested in. When Stephanie Tansey asked what I wanted to do in the future, I said I wanted to be rich so that I could buy luxurious things and have a good life. In fact, I didn't know what a "good life" meant. However, Stephanie guided me to find my passion--event planning.

I asked myself about what I really like and what I wanted to be in the future. Then I used the dialogue skills to persuade my parents to agree with my choice, instead of insisting on pushing me to keep studying finance. I also used the dialogue skills to cheer my orchestra members on to win an important competition during my undergraduate years. But most importantly, I used those dialogue skills to apply for this master’s program, and I succeeded in getting in!

Now, I'm a graduate student at Roosevelt University in Chicago. I have an international circle of friends from the US, Latvia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Russia. My dialogue skills always keep me going in the right direction, making me happy and encouraging me to try new things. I'm so grateful to learn dialogue skills from ECCN.
